In November 2024, a borrowed school hall echoed with the voices of 30 friends singing Whitney Houston’s 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody.' This spontaneous gathering marked the inception of Sing Song Social Club—a community choir founded by Singaporean musicians Aarika Lee, Benjamin Kheng, Nathan Hartono, and Sandra Riley Tang. Their vision was simple: create a space where anyone, regardless of singing ability, could come together to share in the joy of music.

Fast forward to 2025, and this grassroots initiative has blossomed into a viral movement. Sing Song Social Club now boasts sessions filled with hundreds of participants, all united by a love for singing and community. The choir's ethos remains unchanged: no auditions, no pressure—just pure, unadulterated joy.
The culmination of their journey will be showcased at the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) 2025. On 1 June at 8:15 PM, Sing Song Social Club will lead a participatory performance at the inaugural SIFA Pavilion in Bedok Town Square. This free, open-air event invites everyone to join in, celebrating the transformative power of communal singing.
As Aarika Lee aptly puts it, “If I want to go for something that doesn’t exist, maybe I can just do it myself.” This DIY spirit has not only created a safe haven for music lovers but also redefined how communities connect through art.
So, whether you're a seasoned vocalist or someone who sings in the shower, come as you are. Experience the magic of Sing Song Social Club and be part of a movement that proves music truly is for everyone.
