“I’ve never been to Tokyo” is a song about letting go of a dream. Sometimes we chase our dreams so hard that we forget to truly live. For me, that dream was becoming a singer — and in chasing it, I never gave myself the space to travel, explore, or enjoy life’s other adventures. Now that I’m getting older, I’ve come to accept that this dream may never come true. And maybe that’s okay. Tokyo is a place many people have visited, but I never did, because I was always too distracted working on my ambitions. This song is about finally setting myself free — and allowing life to begin, starting with a trip to Tokyo.
